This short was created from the remains of an unfinished commercial project. I just decided to take some of the particle simulations and create a highly synced rhythmic cut.
Vimeo compression is killing the detail so you can down a high quality version here.

SKETCHES
Some R&D. Here can download the project files on my blog plus there's a bit of technical info on how each shot was made.
Music: Of The Mountains by Dan Deacon
NIKE INSTORE FLYKNIT
I worked on this film with Intro, particularly the middle section, the folding boxes and the meshwork-jellyfish-thing or 'doily from the future' as it came to be known. It was an installation piece for the 1948 store in Shoreditch.
PARTICLE PLAY
These are a series of experiments created in Cinema 4D using Thinking Particles, L-Systems and the UberTracer plug-in.
I created an Xpresso tool called the PolyStepper for the effect at 0:36. You can view a tutorial and download the tool from here.
I've also created a couple of Thinking Particle tools for the effect at 0:15 called Gridify and tool for the effect at 0:32 called Spiralator. You can view the tutorial and down here.
Music: Echoes Reality (Si Begg remix) by Max Cooper
FLUID SIMS
These are some tests I cut together, I'm playing with gas and fluid sims via DPIT Effex and Thinking Particles in Cinema 4D.
Music: Michael Nyman/Secrets/Max Cooper Reconstruction
EXPERIMENTS
This is a cut of some recent experiments. I'm messing around with some UV texturing based on Yaders tutorial (https://vimeo.com/55435837). I was also playing with volumetric caustics and then some sculpting and fluids in DPIT for the final shot.
PARTICLE DANCER
Some R&D based on free motion capture data.
Music: Rustie/Triadzz
MESH WALL
This is an edit of some work I produced for the launch of the new Land Rover. I made a series of pre-rendered clips which were triggered live to a giant LED screen.
The turnaround was very quick, two days in total. I used DMesh to turn selected client images into meshes which I manipulated in Cinema 4D. I've added music as a DJ was used at the event.

PARTICLE WAVES
This is a really old project from when I first started playing with particles in 3D but I still sort of like it so I thought I'd post.
I read The Wavewatcher's Companion, a really fascinating book about all types of waves, from brainwaves to lightwaves to waves in traffic. It inspired me to have a play around with Thinking Particles in Cinema 4D and see if could replicate some of the behaviours described.

Wavewatcher's Companion, I highly recommend buying it!
